Set during World War II, this captivating drama stars Marlon Brando as a German war deserter blackmailed into conducting an apparent suicide mission for the British. Forced to pose as an SS officer, Robert Crain (Brando) must seize a German freighter booby-trapped to explode upon capture. Complicating the situation, sixteen prisoners of war are also brought on board, including a beautiful young concentration camp survivor (Janet Margolin).
