Al Capone (1959)
He's the man called Scarface - bootlegger, racketeer, kingmaker, murderer. History tells us Al Capone would ultimately be marked by another label of infamy: Public Enemy No. 1.
Eight years before he won 1967's Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of a small-town police chief in In The Heat Of The Night, Rod Steiger played a powerful role on the opposite side of the law, giving a magnetic performance as the notorious Chicago gangster who prided himself on taking the underworld into the business world. Everyone knew Capone's name. No one knew how to stop him. The irony is that the offense that finally brought Al Capone to justice was something within the mastery of any businessman. And any citizen.
